Who we are

Although the beginings of Challenging the Challenge Initiative were very modest, the vision was not! The desperate needs of our people living with disabilities was simply too great to ignore. Willing hearts boldly came together with the conviction that whenever it was possible to touch one life with some relief or joy, they would take up the challenge. Thus began our journey of daring the massive challenges with the little we found. Thus CCI was born.

We have since discovered that where one is ready to face a challenge, others will always step in to support. Our cause has rapidly grown over the course of a very short time, due to the generous support from our partners and donors. Through their supprort they remind us of the importance of the Challenging the Challenge Initiative. By their spirit of giving and encouragement, our vision and reach has continued to grow and we have been able to touch even more lives to date.

Touching Individual Needs

The core of our mission is making a difference one life at a time. We continue to achieve this by making personal visits and offering human comfort by encouragement and prayer. All our aid disbursments are made in person for this reason.

Collaboration and Networks

The Challenge is huge! Our strategy for successful impact relies on creting partnerships and collaborations in our projecs and those of like minded organisations. We are forging effective partnerships with other NGOs, govornment departments and agencies, donor agencies, private organisations and individuals.

By joining hands with others who are challenging this challenge, we have become more effective and reached further.

Social Education

The greatest challenge facing PWDs is their general exclusion from society. Many of the barriers are not physical but social. CCI seeks to confront negative social perceptions of the disabled by devising programs that bring PWDs to the forefront of society. We seek to achieve this by seeking to provide PWDs with a platform to articulate their own experiences in social gatherings (barazas etc), government forums, business gatherings etc.
Through greater visibility and participation, we will help to shift attitudes towards PWDs in employment, social participation etc

Collaborative advocacy

Challenging the Challenge Initiative has adopted a collaborative approach as we advocate for change of policy towards PWD rights and inclusion.
We believe that through providing information and facilitation to government and private organisations, we can better advocate for change and inclusion.
We aim at creating programs for our government and public services (eg police, healthcare etc.) to better equip them in understanding and serving the PWD community.
We will achieve this by seeking the collaboration of targeted organisation etc, with the support of institutions like KISE and other PWD serving agencies.

Our Mission

At Challenging the Challenge Initiative, we are committed to reaching the unreached PWDs with whatever comfort and provision we can. This is our Mission.

Our Vision

We believe that every little action is a contribution to the betterment of humanity. Our vision is to reach ever more people in need while educating and inspiring others to do the same.

Our Values

We believe that the challenge can better be undertaken with better education, information and facilitation of our government, institutions, corporates, agencies and individuals. Advocacy need not be agitated as we believe that everyone is happy to help if properly informed and facilitated.

Our Strategy

The Challenging the Challenge Initiative strategy centers on 4 main pillars.

  • Outreach to Individuals
  • We aim to directly reach out to people with disabilities (PWDs) by conducting home visits, registering their specific needs, and providing them with assistive devices and other necessary aid.

  • Outreach to Community
  • Our initiative involves engaging with society as a whole to create awareness about the needs of PWDs and to dispel negative perceptions that are prevalent in our society. We organize processions, talks, and participate in social events to achieve this goal.

  • Outreach to Institutions and Organisations.
  • We collaborate with private and government institutions by conducting talks, consultations, and seminars to create institutional awareness and encourage better inclusion of PWDs in their workforce.

  • Service Provision
  • We provide professional consultation and support in staff training, adapting premises for PWD access, and implementing facilities and signage for institutions, offices, events, and other public places.

    Individual Touch

At the Challenging the Challenge Initiative, we have effectively reached out to individuals from diverse backgrounds in the PWD community, and shared the gratification of spreading hope and solace.
We are fortunate to witness the delight of giving, as we have received tremendous support from our backers.
Moreover, by regularly spending time with PWDs and their caregiving families, we have gained a wealth of knowledge. We strive to comprehend their difficulties and provide them with the necessary assistance they require.
    This is our driving motivation.

    Sharing Information

Our core belief is that information empowers people to reach their full potential. A key aspect of our mission is to facilitate access to information.
Our focus is on reaching out to government institutions, public services, private sector employers, and educational institutions, among others. We aim to assist them in understanding how they can integrate persons with disabilities (PWDs) into their workforce and planning.
We are delighted to see many organizations expressing interest in learning more about our work, and we are encouraged by their positive response.

    Advocating for better PWD policy

We have had the chance to interact with county government departments and county assemblies and raise awareness about ways to enhance government policies for people with disabilities (PWDs).
We have been greatly inspired by their positive reception. Valuable data and insights provided by government agencies such as NCPWD have been instrumental in advancing this cause
